αποξηραμένα φύλλα σε κάδρο [DIY dried leaves in frames]

  • Όπως γράφει η Diane Flowers στο βιβλίο της Preserving Flowers: Dried & Pressed Floral Designs For Every Season, το κάθε φύλλο αντιδρά διαφορετικά στη διαδικασία αποξήρανσης.

In recent walks with the family, I had the opportunity to collect beautiful leaves of various shapes and colors. I decided to dry them and put them in photo frames, in order to make a thematic botanical wall at home.
  • I chose the classic way of drying and pressing inside thick books, although there are faster methods (like using a microwave, or ironing them with waxed paper).
  • As Diane Flowers writes in her book Preserving Flowers: Dried & Pressed Floral Designs For Every Season, each leaf responds differently to drying process. So, if you are a beginner, try leaves with thick flesh, such as leaves from magnolia tree, or plane tree.
  • When the leaves were ready (after a week), I sprayed both sides with varnish (hair spray is OK for amateurs, if you don't have spray varnish ☺!). I left them to dry well. If you place them earlier in the photo frame, they will stick to the glass and you will need to destroy them, to get them out!
  • Then, I stuck them on a black cardboard with a small piece of double stick tape. Liquid glue usually stain on the leaves. You can use adhesive spray for effect without traces.
  • I placed them in the frames and they were ready for the wall!
